Join Salt River Elementary School for our annual Spirit Week to celebrate Read Across America March 1-5.

Here's the lineup of events:

  • Mon 3/1: JUMP into a book today! Drive-up to the front office area of SRES anytime from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to get your swag bag of reading! Wear crazy or mismatched socks today!
  • Tue 3/2: Celebrate Read Across America today and wear stars and stripes in colors of red, white, and blue!
  • Wed 3/3: Read a book in your pajamas today! Wear your pajamas, snuggle up with a buddy, and share a cozy read!
    **Drop Everything and Read with Family Event **
  • Fri 3/5: Dress as your FAVORITE
    book character
    and come to Meal Distribution anytime between 10-11:30 a.m. to CELEBRATE reading (see event description below)!

BONUS: From March 1-4, students who read a book and pass an AR quiz will be automatically entered into a special drawing. The For the Love of Reading contest" winner will get a cool raffle basket. You can read and quiz as often as you want during these four days - every quiz is an entry into the raffle. The drawing for the prize winner will be held during Meal Distribution event on Friday, March 5. This contest is for SRES students only.

All books shown on the flyer below, other than Dr. Seuss, can be read on myOn, BookFlix, or Tumblebooks platforms.


THEN ON FRIDAY... 

Celebrate all things literacy with Salt River Schools & our Community partners at our annual Read Across America event! Dress up as your favorite book character; ALL youth ages 18 & younger will go home with special literacy goodies along with breakfast & lunch meals!

The Read Across America Drive-up Literacy Celebration at Meal Distribution, which is located at the ECEC (4836 N. Center St.). will be held  Friday, March 5, from 10-11:30 a.m. Face masks are required!

ECEC & SRES staff dressed like Dr. Seuss, Fancy Nancy, Captain Underpants, cookie-eating mice, Harry Potter & more will be there! They’ll be joined by our partner departments, including the NYCP Literacy for All program, Salt River Tribal Library & SRPMIC HHS Injury & Prevention, among others!

We'll be giving out FREE books, car seats/installations, ice cream donated by Cold Stone Creamery, literacy activities & more!
